Stained Glass
These are electron micrographs of mundane objects (beer and minerals) that have been digitized and computer colored to resemble stained glass.

Black and White
Although I consider digital manipulation to be one of the calling cards of artistic electron micrography, these are beautiful and interesting compositions created in simple black and white. Digitization-- cropping, selection, and choice of subject-- all play a role in making these images more than the dry scientific examples shown on the Home page.

Changing Perspectives
These are images of houseflies, mites, fungus, etc. These examples have been digitally colored, but not manipulated to the extent of the Stained Glass examples. Great care is taken to give each image a three-dimensional feel; hence the name of this section. The illusion that tiny objects are much larger than they truly are has echos of the Surrealist photography movement.
